C-GARD

Centre for GIS Application for Rural Development (C-GARD)

The natural diversity is a special peculiarity of eight states in NE region. In order to unfold the variety systematically and make use of the influences for the purpose of development in general and sustainable management in particular application of GIS is a specific need contractually relevant to the region. In the light of such need, National Institute of Rural Development established the GIS facility centre in NIRD-NERC at Guwahati on August, 2005. This has been upgraded as Centre for Geo Informatics Application for Rural Development (C-GARD) on September, 2009. Dr. K. Haloi, Asst. Director (Sr. Scale) has been looking after this centre with his team comprising of one manager, two project engineers and 10 project staff with necessary equipments including GIS software.
