Computer training programme were introduced in the training curriculum of NIRD-NERC, Guwahati during the year 2003-04. Within a short span of time, the computer courses imparted by the centre have become popular among the rural development functionaries of north eastern states. IT- CELL of the centre was formed in the year 2008

• Imparts ICT training programmes for rural development functionaries of N.E States.
• Manages the ICT facilities and communication network of the institute.
• Provides ICT support to training, research and adminstraive activities of the institute

The regional centre has state of the art ICT infrastructure. NIRDPR-NERC, Guwahati has at present more than 120 numbers of computers used for training, data processing and communication purposes. A number of MIS packages are running under the supervision of IT Cell such as e-Office, Training Management Portal, Government e-Marketplace, Betan, Library management etc. All machine nodes are connected through a gigabit Local Area Network with Wi-Fi (wireless) network spreading across the entire campus of the institute. A high speed fibre optic (OFC) leased line internet connection is available for online communication and electronic data transfer.

The IT –Cell is equipped with an advanced air conditioned computer laboratory with 36 numbers high end desktop PC including 2 numbers of Servers. The lab is exclusively used for skill up gradation of rural development functionaries in various software application packages related to the management of RD programmes. The Lab has the following facilities-

• Touch screen display (65 inches) for interactive presentation

• 20 KVA UPS for power backup

IT-Cell has been mandated to conceptualize and impart ICT training programmes for the senior level RD functionaries of N. E States. As of now, the IT CELL is offering the following modules of ICT Programmes:
